“Some recipes are more than food—they are made with love, devotion, and prayer. I’m making Rhot, a traditional offering prepared from the heart.”

Welcome to my kitchen. Today, I’m sharing how I make my Rhot for prayer. It’s a simple recipe, but one that carries so much meaning and tradition. So, come along with me as I prepare this beautiful offering with love, gratitude, and devotion.”

Combine the above ingredients well.

Butter ghee for frying

Make the Rhot Dough!

I start with my wet ingredients. Into a bowl, I add the sugar, mashed ripe banana, and room-temperature full-cream milk.

I mix everything well until the sugar is nicely incorporated, then set it aside.

In another bowl, I add the all-purpose flour and ground green cardamom. I then add the room-temperature ghee and work it into the flour until well combined.

Now, I gradually add my banana and milk mixture to the flour, bringing everything together to form a soft dough.

Note: Spotted bananas are sweet.
Adjust sugar.

Shape and Fry!

I divide the dough into portions and gently flatten each one.

Heat the ghee in a pan and fry the rhot over medium heat. Turning them carefully until they are beautifully golden on both sides and cooked through.

As you prepare them, remember that this is more than just a recipe—it is an offering made with love, gratitude, and devotion. Place your Rhot aside and prepare them for prayer with a peaceful heart.

As I finish preparing these rhot for prayer, I’m reminded that some of the simplest things in life can carry the deepest meaning. It’s not only about the ingredients we use or the food we prepare; it’s about the love, intention, and devotion we put into every step.

For me, preparing rhot is a beautiful way of keeping tradition alive and passing something meaningful on to the next generation. There is something special about preparing food for prayer with a grateful heart, knowing that it brings family together and keeps our beautiful culture close to home.

As you prepare your own offering, take your time and enjoy the process. Let your kitchen be filled with warmth, gratitude, and peaceful thoughts. We often get so busy with everyday life that we forget to pause and appreciate these simple moments.

May your prayer bring peace to your heart, love to your home, and blessings to your family. May we continue to honor the traditions that connect us to our roots while creating beautiful memories for those who come after us.

Thank you for joining me in my kitchen. Until next time, cook with love, live with gratitude, and always cherish the traditions that make your heart feel at home.
